Extended F7FA .04 S1B single crystal (Rene N4 – N5) testing program to evaluate low temperature heat treatments.
Since 2017, the consortium of EPRI, MD&A, Sulzer, University of Florida and TEServices have been investigating repair of the GE S1B single crystal alloys. Baseline, aged, post rejuvenating heat treatments, metallurgical properties, mechanical properties, welding, coating and recrystallization were evaluated. Recently this program has been extended to analyze the impact of performing lower temperature pre and post weld heat treatments.
Successful weldment on single crystal alloy is shown in the image.
